Armadeus is one of the principal schoolmasters available for training opportunities which include monthly immersion training with our senior trainer Julianne Clim as well as clinics that are held at Yardah House. However we have a variety of other horses available to cater most peoples abilities and experience during their stay at Yardah House. Here are some of the experiences one of our pupils had whilst training at Yardah House. So, now I can say I am a long term student of Marji Armstrong. I am from Austria, but at least I visited Marji at Yardah in Australia in August 2005 and I want to write about my experience. After my arrival a four-day-clinic was already planned. So I was taken immediately in a full training program. My first riding was not the best, because Midnight is a really sensitive horse and I was not relaxed enough. But Marji said Midnight will be my teacher for the next time, and he was the best teacher I ever had. My position improved incredible. During the time at Yardah I rode different horses, did practice in longing and inhand work. Marji spend on teaching me as much time as she could afford and I had some hard but successful lessons. Whenever Marji was busy, Julieann was helping me and than she explained how to do special exercises to organize my body and to help the horse for a better understanding. I practiced a lot of canter, changes, counter canter and half pass. Every day I wrote all the exercises in my diary. Diablo is a young stallion and I learned how to start a horse. Marji lunged me first and it was always important to be safe. It was a brilliant feeling to manage a young horse and Diablo is really a Beauty. It was also very good to look the video after riding, so I saw the mistakes I did. At least I have to say, that I have never managed stallions before – but the Yardah philosophy is to be always safe and clear in telling the horse what to do. So I enjoyed my staying with all the lovely people and the wonderful horses, but I am sorry that the three weeks at Yardah passed by that fast.
Thanks Marji for passing on your knowledge to me! Uschi Kasinger |
