Your Riding Holiday


Some people use their time away from their normal life for rest relaxation and change.  Other people like to use this time available for their further development pursuing their passion, whether for personal achievement or future vocational opportunities.

When you first arrive, you will be assessed on your experience and expertise and together we will plan a strategy to maximise your learning experience.

What can you do and learn if you come here?

Depending on your level of prior skills and experience, the following opportunities are available:

  • Ride horses at different levels of training.  Our horses are not trail robots, they will give you a genuine riding experience. 
  • Training of horses at all levels, feel a sense of achievement in contributing to the horses progress.  Not just being carried around on a horse where you press the "buttons", but learning how to install those "buttons." 
  • Learn how you can contribute to a horses training so that you can take those skills away with you.  Whether back home for your own horse or as part of your vocational advancement.
  • On ground skills ranging from:
o    Handling and starting babies,
o    Handling and managing stallions,
o    Classical In-hand work from basic to Grand Prix movements, and
      beyond to Haute Ecole.
o    One rein lunging from basic to piaffe, passage, spanish walk,
      extended trot.  
o    Two-rein lunging, including half pass and flying changes, a
      progression of One-rein lunging.
o    Classical Long-rein work. Discover how prior preparation will lead to
      this discipline. 
  • Stable management.

Because we are a working farm you could also be involved in the following (Subject to season and events calendars):

  • Assisting with the mating process.
  • Most things are done naturally, so you may even witness a foals being born in a natural environment. 
  • As things happen, the day to day dealings with situations as they eventuate, providing veterinary treatments both preventative and remedial.  Dealing with situations when they arise.
  • Work schoolmaster horses.  Fine sensitive horses.  We can cater for riders at all levels of ability. 
  • Assist in preparation for horse shows (subject to events calendar, there may be opportunities to be part of our team at horse shows and competitions)


Enjoy local attractions.  If you bring another family member with you who is not interested in horses, here are some of the things they can go and do while giving you the freedom to become totally immersed in our horsey culture.  It might also be that you would like some time out to enjoy what the local area has to offer. click here.

While you may not actually be here long enough to achieve competency in all the above areas, you will go away with an understanding of the logical progression of our training programmes.  This should equip you with the confidence that you have enough knowledge to allow you to plan and continue your own growth and competency.
